ramblings

Hi. I thought I'd just write something on here. David and I are doing well. I love where we live. It is only 5 minutes away from where I work. It's so nice. I have always commuted at least 30 minutes to work ever since I started teaching.
I am getting anxious about the baby coming. Sometimes I get impatient and excited and sometimes it seems a little overwhelming. I kinda go back and forth. I like to go into the baby's room and just look around and imagine and I feel like I miss her even though I haven't seen her yet.
My mom has bought her plane ticket so she can be up here when I have the baby. She's going to be able to be here for 2 weeks. I'm so excited.
My little girl sure is strong, judging from her kicks. It makes me happy to know she's a strong baby. Hopefully that means she'll be very healthy when she arrives. I have another ultrasound on Wednesday to check on the progress of her kidneys. Hopefully, the 2nd one has shrunk as well. It'll be nice to see her again, moving around. I gotta stop writing now, I'm getting emotional. Crazy hormones.

I'm surrounded by CUTENESS

I just wanted to place a few pictures of the really cute things in my life and show everyone that we got our baby's room all set up. Here are some pictures:

First my very cute wife, this was taken while on our trip that is me she is laying on.

This next one is of our cute dog, ignore the not so cute person in the picture... (sorry nick you know it is true
This last one is of our new cute baby room that we just set up. The crib was given to us from Katherine's cousin and aunt... It came with no instruction booklet so it took me about 30 min just to figure out how to put it together and then another hour to put it together using my feet to hold up the opposite end and my car keys as a screw driver! ( I felt like a monkey holding the crib upright with my feet)

Time for yet another move

Just in case no one besides me is keeping track, this is my 22 move since I graduated high school 6 years ago. That is not joke, I can prove it if you don't believe me. Anyway, this is a great move we are going from a small 2 bed/1bath in Rexburg to a nice 3 bed/2 bath place across from a Winco (the idaho version of Costco)(aka...really cheap groceries) in Idaho Falls. So we have spent the last few days packing and everything to get ready for that.

Apart from that, not much has happened except, as mom and dad already know, I have an interview at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainsville, FL on August 28. That is exciting.
One thing I have really learned lately is that it is EXPENSIVE to get into dental school, let alone dental school itself. Here is what I mean:

  • AADSAS Application (standard application sent to most schools) = $400
  • TMDSAS Application (standard application sent to the texas schools) = $100
  • Application to take DAT = $220
  • Materials to study for the DAT = $200
  • Secondary application at each school = about $40 each = 40*4 = $160
  • Plane Tickets to get to the interview = about $500 each
  • Gas to drive to Pocatello to take the DAT = $60
Therefore with me just having one interview so far the total money I have spent on just trying to get into dental school (this does not mean I got into dental school it is just the application) is $1640
yeah it is nuts... anyway...

guess what... a few weeks ago we decided to make a cheescake from scratch. It turned out amazing. It was a 3 layer cake. The bottom crust was gramcracker, the bottom layer was chocolate cheescake, the next layer way White chocolate cheescake, and the top layer was strawberry cheescake. It was then toped with a hard shell of chocolate with white chocolate swirl. We then made from the left over strawberries a glaze that we put on top.... IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
(here is a picture... minus the glaze)

And just for the fun of it here is a picture of our cute dog, I can't wait to get a picture of our baby on here.

Time for the "Waiting Game"

Just a quick update. I took the DAT today. The national average is a 17 I got an 18. It is a good score but not a great score. So I am still on the borderline for acceptance. I am now completely finished with Applications. All i can do now is sit and wait for one of the schools to call me and say "Hey we want to interview you." All I can do is wait... Wait... WAit... WAIt.... WAIT.... so we shall see.

Also for those of you that don't know we are finding out what we are having Wed. July 2nd and 9:30 am ... But who is keeping track?

Taking Bets.....

OK Everyone that read's this. We are going to find out what we are having on July 2nd, So I am curious to know what everyone thinks we are going to have. So reply to this post, make a prediction and write some reason why you think so (the funny'er (sp?) the better).

That is all for now, You have a month to make a prediction and think of some good reason why you think so.

Here is mine... I think we are having a girl. The reason is that every female Hurst (even in the extended family) has had boys as their first child, Every male Hurst (except for Uncle Cory... he's just weird) has had a Girl for their frist child. Therefore I am going to have a girl.

Ok I'll wait for your replies...

Have fun!
