Nicaragua Part two.. The Playing!

Well, After 5 days of work we went to a resort on the pacific coast to relax, It was fun, but not really great. I really misseed Katherine while I was there, it would have been great if she could have come with me.
But there was alot to do. We stayed on Montelimar Beach resort, where the largest pool in central and south america resides. I went boogie boarding in about 6-7 foot wake, swimming and things like that. well here are some pictures.

TOP= Market BOTTOM= Tucan

A couple picture that I took. Yes I really took these pictures. It was beautiful.

This is the beach that we stayed at.

Nicaragua Part one.. The work!

Well, i just got back from my trip, two words.... WOW! hehe. Anyway, It was amazing. I got to do so many cool things involved in dentistry. I'll explain them by the pictures.

This is the first thing we did, We went to a ward building that was packed with people. It was actually an old school that they chruch rented, here we went to church then passed out gifts to the families and thing that needed. This was one part of the humanitarian projects for the week and the only one that us pre-dental students did. It was awesome to see how happy the families were to get these simple things and also to get a family photo. It was really rewarding.

On the TOP was my first day, I got to work with Luis and Rafa. These are two dentists from honduras that have been working with the group for previous years, I learned a TON of spanish working with them. Right in the picture i am curing (making hard) a filling that we have just put in. On the BOTTOM I am working with DR. Gary Crawford, He is an oral surgan, we got to do alot of cool thing like cutting a kids toung lose from the bottom of his mouth and many wisdom teeth extractions. Also the kid in the chair in the picture sat there for 2 hours. he had 4 wisdom teeth to take out and also 2 extra teeth under his front bottom teeth that had to be removed. It was the hardest tooth to remove, the doctor had to drill from the back and tried to pull it out and when that didn't work he had to remove the gums from the front of the teeth and drill into the jaw bone to push the tooth out. It took a long time, it was so interesting. I worked with two other dentists that arent pictured and got to do some cleanings and alot of assisting.

ON the TOP I am taking X-rays, on ther BOTTOM I am doing sterilzation.

Sterlization was a hard job so we made it fun by floating a ping pong ball over the steeming pots.

Hello people!

Hello everyone! I don't have any pictures to put up because David has my camera in Nicaragua. He told me on the first day he had already taken 20 or 30 pictures! So I'm sure he will have lots of pictures to post when he comes back.
I was a little worried for awhile that I wouldn't have anyone to be with on Thanksgiving, but last Saturday, I got in contact with Ashley Reeder and so she and her brother will be coming over for Thanksgiving!! It should be lots of fun!
Next month, at my school I will be in charge of a Medieval Fair that the 4th graders do every year. The kids dress up and pretend that they are people from the Middle Ages that we are studying about in Social Studies. Other students come in a learn from my students what it was like living in those times. I am also "in charge" of the school Christmas program. I sort of got roped into it. Our principal was telling everyone at a faculty meeting about the Christmas program she wanted to have and that I was going to be in charge of it. (She hadn't told me before) I looked up and said, "I'm going to what?" Everyone started laughing. Our principal is funny like that. She told me I didn't have to but I said I would. At least I don't have to teach the whole school the songs like I would when I was the music teacher. (At least I hope it doesn't come to that!)
