Man VS Wild

So Discovery channel is one of our favorite channels. However we really dont watch this show. Anyway funny story, We were watching "Mythbusters" and a commercial for Man VS Wild came on. They are doing a special episode of all the interesting things that he has eaten. Well, if you have not seen it, in the begining he picks up a little tree frog and bites it's head off. Then it explains the show. Well we did not know this, so as he walked up to the tree and grabed the frog, he showed the camera and Katherine say's "awww what a cute tree frog" then in the next second he bit the head off and katherine screamed and shreeked away like a little kid who just saw their pet fish die. It was the funniest thing to see the transition from "AWWWW to AHHHH"

It was one of those thing you had to be there to expirence but I thought I would share anyway!

Nicaragua Part two.. The Playing!

Well, After 5 days of work we went to a resort on the pacific coast to relax, It was fun, but not really great. I really misseed Katherine while I was there, it would have been great if she could have come with me.
But there was alot to do. We stayed on Montelimar Beach resort, where the largest pool in central and south america resides. I went boogie boarding in about 6-7 foot wake, swimming and things like that. well here are some pictures.

TOP= Market BOTTOM= Tucan

A couple picture that I took. Yes I really took these pictures. It was beautiful.

This is the beach that we stayed at.

Nicaragua Part one.. The work!

Well, i just got back from my trip, two words.... WOW! hehe. Anyway, It was amazing. I got to do so many cool things involved in dentistry. I'll explain them by the pictures.

This is the first thing we did, We went to a ward building that was packed with people. It was actually an old school that they chruch rented, here we went to church then passed out gifts to the families and thing that needed. This was one part of the humanitarian projects for the week and the only one that us pre-dental students did. It was awesome to see how happy the families were to get these simple things and also to get a family photo. It was really rewarding.

On the TOP was my first day, I got to work with Luis and Rafa. These are two dentists from honduras that have been working with the group for previous years, I learned a TON of spanish working with them. Right in the picture i am curing (making hard) a filling that we have just put in. On the BOTTOM I am working with DR. Gary Crawford, He is an oral surgan, we got to do alot of cool thing like cutting a kids toung lose from the bottom of his mouth and many wisdom teeth extractions. Also the kid in the chair in the picture sat there for 2 hours. he had 4 wisdom teeth to take out and also 2 extra teeth under his front bottom teeth that had to be removed. It was the hardest tooth to remove, the doctor had to drill from the back and tried to pull it out and when that didn't work he had to remove the gums from the front of the teeth and drill into the jaw bone to push the tooth out. It took a long time, it was so interesting. I worked with two other dentists that arent pictured and got to do some cleanings and alot of assisting.

ON the TOP I am taking X-rays, on ther BOTTOM I am doing sterilzation.

Sterlization was a hard job so we made it fun by floating a ping pong ball over the steeming pots.

Hello people!

Hello everyone! I don't have any pictures to put up because David has my camera in Nicaragua. He told me on the first day he had already taken 20 or 30 pictures! So I'm sure he will have lots of pictures to post when he comes back.
I was a little worried for awhile that I wouldn't have anyone to be with on Thanksgiving, but last Saturday, I got in contact with Ashley Reeder and so she and her brother will be coming over for Thanksgiving!! It should be lots of fun!
Next month, at my school I will be in charge of a Medieval Fair that the 4th graders do every year. The kids dress up and pretend that they are people from the Middle Ages that we are studying about in Social Studies. Other students come in a learn from my students what it was like living in those times. I am also "in charge" of the school Christmas program. I sort of got roped into it. Our principal was telling everyone at a faculty meeting about the Christmas program she wanted to have and that I was going to be in charge of it. (She hadn't told me before) I looked up and said, "I'm going to what?" Everyone started laughing. Our principal is funny like that. She told me I didn't have to but I said I would. At least I don't have to teach the whole school the songs like I would when I was the music teacher. (At least I hope it doesn't come to that!)

explanation...

The dog food we had for candy was a soft dog food, not mushy, but a chewy food and we knew it went stale because it was hard as a rock and candy would not eat it.

Crazy husband!

I'm surrounded by crazy people! First my dog, now my husband. Ok, so Candy's food went stale because it wasn't closed all the way. We bought her some more on Tuesday that has a zip-lock built in to the top of the bag. David opened it up on Wednesday and said, "Where's that zip-lock you told me about? I thought you said there was a zip-lock!" So I walked over to see what was wrong when I realized something....he had opened it upside down!!! Of course there wasn't a zip-lock there--it was the bottom! He ruined the whole reason why we bought that kind of dog food! So being the genius that he is he said, "I can fix it, bring me the stapler", and go figure IT WORKED! Silly David!

Crazy Dog!

We have a crazy dog! At night, Candy sleeps in the bathroom on some old blankets, but a couple of mornings ago, after I left for work, David woke up and saw this! Not only had she crawled into bed with him, she took my place in the bed with her head on the pillow and her body under the covers! Who does she think she is? Needless to say, David was very surprized and very confused! Instead of waking up to see me, he saw this!

Mind bloggleing math,

TRY THIS
Note: This must be done in your head only.
Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total?

Scroll down for answer.

Did you get 5000?

The correct answer is actually 4100.

Don't believe it? Check with your calculator!
This is really frustrating to get wrong. I still cant figure out how I got it wrong.

Our funny dog.

Katherine has Candy very well trained. Candy knows that she is not to be in the kitchen, she also knows what the kitchen means. She knows tile=kitchen. Well when we are cooking dinner she just loves to be right at our feet, all we have to do is say "out of the kitchen" and she looks at us with a dissapointed look. So we say it one more time and she keeps eye contact and backs up out of the kitchen until her paws are all on the carpet. It is way funny. Here are some pictures.

My first blog!

I just wanted to try this out. David just added me to this blog and I've never blogged before. I also wanted to explain my blog name to those of you un-texans. BOI is a term we Galvestonians have for those who are Born On the Island. I am a BOI, along with all of my family except my dad. It is a very exclusive club and only those who are very lucky get to belong to it. :)

Frist Real SNOW

Shop-a-holic

Well, I guess y'all can tell what this one is going to be about.
Background=
So, Katherine will go to the store and buy the place out everytime, it is rather funny.
Well a few weeks ago we had a full pantry and fridge, the only thing we were lacking was milk (for anyone who really knows me that is like saying we dont have any water.) While i was at school I asked Katherine to go pick up some milk from the store.... ALL we needed was milk!!! Well she gets home and shows me a receipt for $97.00 worth of stuff. Kinda half jestingly we decided she is not allowed to go to the store by herself anymore.
Now the funny part, today, she had work off and need to get some stuff for soup she has to make for tomorrow. so she was off to the store. Unfortunitly I had class, so i made a bet with her. She said she could control herself so I said "I bet you, that you cant spend under $70 when you go"... She was way eager to jump on that bet saying, "I am doing alot better I can do it, you're on!"

Well she gets home... the final tally was $70.95, she lost, however the funny part is she mostly only bought stuff we did need. The best part is that she went over $70 by buying 1 thing we didn't, need a cake mix she found on sale for $1.00. If she had not bought that she would have won, it was rather funny!!!

just thought we would share.

But on the other hand, I am definitly NOT compalining, Katherine is an AMAZING cook!!! She is way too good to me.

Horror and Excitment!

Scenero: 11:08 AM, 29th sept. 2007, Rexburg, Idaho, Typical saturday morning, Katherine and David relax on the couch in their 2 bedroom mansion apartment watching some Stargate SG-1, Candy lies next the them enjoying the quiet.

Suddenly Candy JUMPS up, runs to the door with her tail extended and ears alert. As she aproaches the door she truns and sits, clamly looking back at her pets. (this means time to go outside)

Reluctantly Katherine gets up to take her out, she opens the door with great ease only to let a shreek of terror shouting "WOW it is cold". Quickly she grabs David's coat and steps outside. Meanwhile David just sits and laughs at how easily Katherine gets cold; however, for the second David did feel the cold he realized there was somthing strang, yet oddly familar about that weather.

The next thing David knew is Katherine opening the door and saying "Hey look, it is raining something white and fluffy from the sky." As David aproaches the door he realizes it is SNOWING! so he turns to his Texan wife and informs her that the world is not over and that is just snow.

Immediatly Katherine picks up her phone and calls everyone she knows still in Texas and informs them of the down pour. Then runs outside to tell the neighbors, and to play in the snow, much like a little kid who tastes chocolate for the first time, then dives in. Then inside to the warm mansion to drink some luxurious and very expensive hot chocolate.

THE END

For real, winter has come a month early this year, the first snow is usualy around Halloween, but not this year, look and see how much we already have.

Just kidding, this is last year. this year are the next pictures.

If you look closely at Katherine's PT cruiser you can see little white specks, that is the snow. It really was not that big of a deal but, it is the first snow.
well bye bye.

Anyway, she was cold(go figure) so she truned on the heater while i was cleaning my shirt she said "Dejavu, you are going to tell me to turn off the heater in a second because it smells, no i will tell my self that because you wont be able to smell it. it will start smelling in a few seconds".................. a few seconds............... BAM it started smelling and i could not smell it until i got way close to the vent.... that was WEIRD!!!!!

Running face first into the "band wagon"... ouch!

Ok, ok, we have given in. We have decided to join the clan of siblings and creat our own blog. so here it is... enjoy.

Seeing as how we are "Candy's pets", for those of you who dont know Candy, she is our dog and here she is.

In case your wondering, and i know you are... "Where is she in that first picture?"

Well, we went camping it Yellowsonte last weekend and both are taken there, however; this first picture at about 5 in the morining candy climbed onto our airbed and into my sleeping bag and wiggled her way to the end of it and fell asleep for another 3 hours, here is her at my feet. isn't she cute.
More funny sleeping stuff from Yellowstone, I served in Finland, COLD country, well yellowstone got to about 45 degrees at night and we only had this tent. (we own this now, thanks to gift cards from the wedding)

Now in Iowa I had slept outside in kinda cooler weather so I only had a sleeping bag and a PJ pants with a long sleeve t-shirt and I was fine. However, by beautiful wife, a Texan who has never before seen weather below +20 degrees Faranheight (sp?) wore thermal underwear, both a top and a bottom, tee shirt, a thermal sweater, sweetpants, wool socks, and a wool hat with thinsulate(a meteral in finland made for extreem colds weather gear), then I stuffed my big quilt into her sleeping bad and she slept in the blanket-in the bag with it sipped up to her chin... AND SHE STILL WAS COLD!!!! She looked way cute, I think Candy got in my sleeping bag because she could not fit in Katherine's

All in all it was a great weekend and we saw many great, beautiful things.

(here are some pics)
